My grandmother had written the following on the outside of a sleeve with this nickel in it.

1941-P Nickel with split face in front of face up through S&T on Trust?

Coins not in bad shape either it looks like.

Thoughts?

I don't see it. Are you referring to the dark line in front of the face?

Looks like a lamination issue. That dark line if you look closer will probably show a deeper area where the lamination was not adhering.
