I noticed this penny looked like the "969" in the date looked a little doubled along with the "ST" in TRUST. The mint mark looks really odd to me, too. Is this doubling or just a form of md. Thanks for your time and any information on this will be greatly appreciated.

Not 100% about the mint mark, but the rest looks like Machine Doubling.

I agree and think it is Machine Doubling. MD can be shallow and it also can be deep depending upon when the dies moved.

The two marks inside of the mint mark are from a damaged punch. Check other examples from that year you will see varying degrees of these marks until they replaced the punch.

The listings are from coppercoins and are RPMs, but not because of the damaged punch. This also occurs on all dies that that damaged punch.

Look on your date. The flat shelf like look is a partial clue. The rest to me on the date is the reducing of the overall size of the devices. Keep looking. There are out there. The 1968-1972 Cents had lots of Machine Doubling those years.
