Quote: I would be reluctant to use one as well. Every now and then I am tempted to make the J-Buck a pocket piece, but then I start thinking about what could never be undone. I remember when that topic showed up. Don't risk it!

Looks like a 1916?
Yesterday I picked up an AG 1885-O Morgan to add to the mix.

I had a token I carried for the longest time but then I purchased this Hobo Nickel for under $15 ..... Give you a nickel for your thoughts!

Here's the latest addition to the pocket. It's a 1926-S. I've been wanting to do a Peace dollar for some time since it's one of my favorite designs. But couldn't bring myself to consign any of my 8 existing Peace dollars to the pocket, even though none are really better than AU. I picked it up at the LCS this morning on my way to a job interview (same company, higher position). Maybe she brought me good luck; who knows. Will find out later this week hopefully. I think I'm going to give my 1883-O Morgan, which has been going in my pocket for the last 9 months, a rest for now. The hole is not mine. The coin looks a lot nicer in hand.

changed up my Hobo Nickel and thought I would carry this large cent for awhile ..... Coin has some but not much value and I like looking ..... I've owned this coin for over 40 years .... Maybe by carrying I'll wear off the scratches

Quote: Using a holed coin is a good idea. I agree. I tried using a 1923 Peace dollar last year. Carried it for about a day before deciding that I just couldn't ruin it. It was probably XF with some luster remaining. So it sits in my stash now. I decided that the next coin I carried would have to be holed, polished, or otherwise damaged, and shortly after that I got the Morgan which I bought with four hit marks on the obverse. And now this one.

That's why I chose this piece. A new ASE I would have problems carrying a older coin ethically but I don't mind turning a new coin into a circulated piece. This is day one. Just about to pop it out of its capsule. And yeah those black spots on the reverse are on the coin. Just hoping to find some special half dollars to be his friends.
