blueczar1512 Valued Member Australia 112 Posts	Posted 11/01/2007 10:11 am These Chinese coins I believe are from Tung Chih (1862-1874) but I wanted to ask about the reverses since I haven't seen one with the western years written like this. Also what is the "TS" that has been stamped on the other coin? image not working, for some reason the image adress isn't displaying correctly. It should be http://img158.imageshack.us/img158/...ecoins36.jpg with an "x d" (without the spaces) between the 3 and the 6 at the end of the adress so its 3 x d 6.jpg not 36.jpg Edited by blueczar1512 11/01/2007 10:20 am Report this Post to the Staff

I did remember somewhere that there was this guy who collected whole coins and decided to counterstamp his initials on his collection. The only thing is I don't know if it's the same guy that I am thinking of. sakura Valued Member Malaysia 59 Posts	Posted 11/02/2007 7:47 pm The one on the left is definitely a fantasy piece, but the Chien Lung coin on the right doesn't look genuine either. Something's not right about the characters especially 'chien' and 'pao'; the character strokes are not distinct and look odd. A good replica of the original, in my opinion. I have no idea what "TS" is, 'Tourist souvenir' perhaps? Counterstamping would destroy a coin's value, unless it's done by governments to change its host coin's value or usage.
