I don't see any environmental damage do you. Wonder if I sent it in if it would come back like this. 390977273810.
Rest in Peace

It looks pretty good for a dug coin.

Incomprehensible. They've slabbed a coin being eaten alive by verdigris.

Definitely verdigris disease. A lot of times the TPGs overgrade or misgrade coin from big collections and this collection was notoriously overgraded.

The vast majority of copper Stacks 57th St. Hoard pedigreed coins in NGC slabs are environmentally damaged yet problem free on the label. I would avoid them all and just assume they have a problem. Looking at those coins is irritating especially when you send in a coin like this and it comes back cleaned.

Yes EF I remember you fuming over that. Another good reason to keep my copper raw.

In this case I'm glad they didn't remove the verdigris because what's underneath probably looks a lot worse. But yeah, the problem-free slab is a head scratcher given the magnitude of the issue.

That 1887 IHC has the look of being recolored. I don't like it.
As far as PCGS and NCG, I've seen some fairly important coins or collections "slide by" into problem free holders.
Not surprised.
