1968 D Double Die? - Coin Community Forum

Mdnyte Valued Member United States 362 Posts	Posted 11/10/2015 3:39 pm Hi I found this 1968D that I'm seeing some areas looking doubled, other areas not a lot. Would the entire coin have to be doubled if it was truly a doubled die? Also I want to note the the "s" in trust looks like there may be a die chip sitting on the loop of the bottom of the S? I wasn't sure if it was a piece of dirt and I don't want to clean the coin to find out.. Any suggestions? The next is the we and trust and you can see the doubling behind the U which I tried getting as close as possible without losing the focus. The S right beside it is where you can see something at the bottom of the S. Report this Post to the Staff

No. Some examples of doubled dies show only one device with doubling, like this 1963-D I can't see the doubling in your photos, but there are a few known doubled dies for this year and mint. Try to get some photos of the coin straight on, not at an angle. Sometimes taking photos at an angle can distort the way the coins truly looks. Report this Post to the Staff
