Of my Peace dollars, this one is certainly my lowest ball of them all... Don't see too many 1928-p going lower than AG-3.

Quote: Don't see too many 1928-p going lower than AG-3. This is to be expected; below AG-3 it is extremely hard to distinguish a lack of a mintmark from a worn-off mintmark, and 1928-S is far more common than 1928-P. My own 1923-S Peace dollar could probably make FR-2 (it looks a lot more worn than yours), but having a mintmark simplifies things.

I think I've heard some talk here about 21st century lowballs... This one has been in my pocket over half a decade, and I think it's well on its way to lowball status. The concavity of the obverse and overall low relief let the rims wear down in no time, but I'm afraid I'll lose the date and mint mark before much of the portrait detail.

Yet another very heavily circulated 1797 George III penny. Although not necessary to be identified (this being a one year type), in this instance the date is actually, albeit barely, legible.

Quote: in this instance the date is actually, albeit barely, legible As expected, since the date is incuse. Though I think I've seen them worn so much that even the date could not be read. Some day I hope to get a well-worn 1799 twopence; they mostly show up (when they do at all) in high grades and far above my budget.

Harder to find than the pennies for sure. Here's mine, which I actually picked up at a very reasonable price: http://goccf.com/t/321273
