I picked up 5 customer wrapped rolls yesterday. 3 were in light green wrappers and 2 in blue wrappers. The three green ones did not have a coin newer than 1967,with a whole bunch of 64s of course. Got 2 1945P wars,a 65,40,40D,48D,52 and about 6 very nice 63s and 64s. The blue wrappers didn't have much,mostly new stuff,but I did find a 1975 S proof.

My 10 roll search on my rainy Saturday yielded the following: 1939 1940 1953D 1955D 1956D 1959D 2-1962 3-1962D 3-1963D 2-1964 10-1964D 1965 1967 As you can see a whole mess of 60's. That 1939 had me hoping for a "Double Monticello" bonanza, but no cigar! Just have to keep on trying. Now I'm looking at how to organize the keepers. Will probably toss back the 60's lot. The 39 and 40 as well as all the 50's I'll put in a coin tube.  |

A very fun box. Down to 4 holes left to fill strictly from roll searching!!

picked up a box yesterday. no wars, 25 pre-59's, but no holes filled. getting pretty tough as I only need 3 more and I'm pretty sure all of you can guess what those 3 might be. I did however, find my first proof that actually looks like a proof. (pulled a well circulated proof jfk half a few days ago) it was a '95. a few fine lines on the mirror fields. overall, not a very impressive box, I may have to hit some banks further from home...i think the ones around me are tapped out at the moment.

I also took some of my 38-59 stockpile and put two rolls on ebay just to see if they'd draw any interest. The rolls contain all mintmarks, but no wars. I've separated them all into rolls of 38-49 and 50-59. At some point, I suppose I'll do just rolls of each year/mm. |

Let us know how that turns out for you afcop13 I'm thinking of doing the same.
Finished off an "okay" box last night had 2 wars in it so that was good, but only 20 or so pre-60's.

I've been assembling rolls of individual years whenever I have enough to wrap for that year. I was thinking of putting some on ebay as well.   Here's that proof I pulled from my last box. nothing special, but it's my first proof that still had any mirror left. |

I had 16 1955 and earlier yesterday including a 1943 War Nickel and a 1920 partial date buffalo in AG. |

I'm not a super-searcher like CND but I did reach a Pinenut-sized milestone yesterday. I've searched 500 rolls and have received 256 pre-1960 nickels; 17 silver (my most is 6 1943-S); 1 DL buffalo (though I think it's a 1924 P); 7 Canadian; and four on the circulation obsolescence top ten (2 45-D and 2 42-S). After getting disenfranchised from not filling holes in my humble Whitman folder for a while (I still have 14 holes to go), I upgraded to a Dansco (thanks ebay bucks) and have had a blast searching for BU examples of 1962 and up. Thanks to all who contribute to this forum. I love hearing about all your successes. Happy searching. |

its been a while since someone posted. i havent searched nickles in a while, and I just got a box yesterday and about 3/4ths the way through and have only found a dozen or so pre 60-s. not sure what to do with them. they are all vf condition or so. I heard afcop was going to ebay a roll. do they have to be in awesome shape or any shape? |

Well ..... I agree that this thread has been quiet for a while .... it's a natural thing and not to worry ..... I remain a dedicated nickel searcher ... see my CCF handle  ..... and I always post my detailed results at every 10,000 coins searched ... I'm now at 178,800 nickels searched ..... with another update coming along shortly. Some news for me is an upgrade for my 1942-S ..... the new coin is VF and replaces a VG example in my humble Whitman 9001. Best wishes to all nickel roll searchers. My ebay venture didn't work out so well - the buyer got them below face value. I'll just hold and wrap by year & mm from here forward. Another box sitting in the den - I'll go thru it tonight. |

sorry to hear that afcop13 - I was considering the same thing as I'm starting to get near full rolls of some 1940s dates. Did you try calling any local dealers to see if they have an interest?

Here's my latest thought on what to do with the finds. I'll sort/assemble them as "Young Numismatist Starter Rolls" maybe two roll pairs, guaranteeing no more than 2 of any date/MM in average circulated condition and see how that goes.
