Quote: While picking up my usual box of pennies I asked the teller if she had any other stuff. She gave me $10 in nickels and $40 in quarters. Couldn't believe the results. 62 war nickles, one proof nickle, three proof quarters and bunches of other high quality common dates. Love those customer rolls. Wow nice haul . I've had good finds in customer wrapped rolls but nothing like that.

Last big haul in CWR's was 7 rolls of wheats (all common) out of $10. That was last year. I go through alot of duds also.

Yes, a really good batch! I was going through a box and found 3 War Nickels by the 15th roll! Thought I might be lucky and keep it up but that was it. Still good. Then I did $24 in hand rolled and nothing much but a lot of older nickels in good shape. I can't wait to go through the cups of all the nickels to put in collection books. I have been keeping all before 1960 in a cup, the 60s except 1964 since I've just kept them seperate since so many and then the 70s. I have a cup for very good quality everything else. I also decided just to make a roll for my kids with the yr. born just as an extra Easter present. They are kind of laughing at me with the nickels.

Let them laugh. I collect all Georgia quarters for my granddaughter Georgia just for the heck of it. 9 months of putting them back and I have $140 worth. Maybe the start of a college education or something.

While they laugh, they are thinking it funny but know why. Nickels will soon be gone as we know them, at least that's how I think and actually how it appears as well. I wish they were smaller and lighter! But, that's what we have and I will try to get a few more boxes to go through and just keep for a rainy day!

Today's $100 box gave up no silver or buffalos, but I did get an XF 1938 and also my second 1955 Plain! Also scored a nice 2000 Bermuda nickel.

Some of you are having great results! I finished my first box today. No War Nickels and 1 buffalo (1927). Hope my next box is better!

good luck. It seems it's all the luck of the draw. There are a lot of older nickels out there though. I probably have almost enough to complete a book.

I looked through a $100 box today. It was a good batch. 4 war-2 each 1942 P and 1943 P, 9 buffalos, 5 1937, 1921,1930, 1932 and 1935. They were all in readable shape, the 1921 the least readable. I aslo got 4 Canadian 2 of which were before 1982. There were quite a few before 1960 but I just am putting them all in a cup for now. I will start to fill my collection books now that I probably have most of the nickels for each yr.

wow angel2004, that is quite an amazing haul for one box. I've only searched 5 $100 boxes so far but I only have 3 War Nickels and 2 buffalos. you beat me in your one box.

I don't understand it either. They are all mixed up with all years. All of my coins (with the exception of about $40 that I've gone through have been machine wrapped from a local bank. I don't know where the nickels I've been searching come from but they are in the box for the most part. I am glad that all dates have been in my rolls (although I haven't put collector books together yet) I have been seperating into cups! I have from the last 100 about 2-3 rolls of 1964. Weird more of them than 2008! No 2009 or 2001 either. There were quite a few before 1960 in most of my rolls as well.
