I got two boxes of nickels for my local bank today and both are a solid box of 2011D. Needless to say, I was in the searching mood and very disappointed. I guess I will try again tomorrow.

Just finished my 46th box. I only count 1958 and older. Not too bad - I found 23, with one of them silver. No foreign this time though.

Just my second 100.00 box of nickels: 1940 x 2, 43-P (silver War Nickel), 1946, 1946-S, 1947, 1947-D, 1948-D, 1952, 1953, 1953-S (beautiful condition & low mintage of 19.2 million), 1956-D, 1957-D x 3, 1958-D, 1959-D. Plus I landed another swiss franc coin with the number 20 on back and Conferatio Helvetica 1991 on the front. Also a 2008 10-peso coin from Chile.

Nice find phil! World coins are always a nice bonus. Were these the coins you found? http://(131231) Not Allowed - Auto-Removed /countries/coine.php?image=img3/172-29a&desc=Switzerland%20km29a%2020%20Rappen%20(1939%2B)%20copper-nickel&query=(Switzerland,%20Swiss)%20Rappen

Thanks Strohbie - Yep, those are the two types of coins I found. Oddly, the 2nd box in a row of finding the same type of Swiss coin!

Nickels just haven't given me anything in months. Have gone through 10 boxes with zero silver, one buffalo and two or three 1939 P coins.

Also after 20 boxes or so I've yet to find a 2009 nickel. I've never seen a 2009 nickel. People really hoarded those huh?

I don't know about hoard. I probably pulled about 10 rolls of 2009-D out of circulation. I finally stopped after it got to where I was finding 2 or 3 every roll.
