seal, that seems like a pretty good $50 box. 30 pre 1960 is average for me for a $100 box. and 1 silver is a good pull. you cant expect to get keys in a box. if you could expect to get a key in every box... then they probably would not be considered keys. you should lower your expectations for roll searching, because your results aren't bad.

Hey Seal! Its all random chance! It doesn't matter where you get your rolls...its all random. I get all my rolls from Wells Fargo and I have found War Nickels and one Buffalo nickel and two Liberty head nickels! So...just keep searching!

I pull silver nickels and silver halves all the time from my Wells Fargo Brink's boxes. If anything, it would be Brinks sorting out the silver and not Wells. Apparently the Brinks that services my area isn't sorting much of anything out.

I think I will snag a box of nickels today. I will post results if I do.

Box today yielded no War Nickels or buffalos, but I was very pleased none the less. I found a key date 1938 s and it is in pretty good shape. Another hole filled for me :) also got a semi key 1951 s although I already had it. results of $100 box: 1938 s 1940 1940 s 1941 (x2) 1946 (x2) 1946 d 1947 1948 1951 s 1952 1953 1953 d 1954 1954 d 1954 s (x3) 1956 d (x2) 1957 d 1958 d 1959 d 2009 d (x11) Mexico 2001 $1 Peso pretty decent box I would say for not having silver or buffalos. by the way I average 10 2009 d nickels per box, and I have yet to find a single 2009 p :/

I checked $30 earlier and one 1944D and quite a few 1940s and 1950s in decent shape. I also got this weird coin that has a hole in the middle - flowers on one side and the other has a 50 on top with symbols and a 49 on the bottom. I have no clue what it is. also a canadian nickel.

Angel - sounds like a Japanese 50 Yen coin. Got one out of the first box of nickels I ever did.

Thanks. I assume the 49 might be the year? Doesn't look that old.

The 49 might be - but I doubt it. It is part of the determining factor for the year. My strategy for finding the year is just to google search and try and find one exactly like mine. The one I have I score as 1991 - and the only number on the coin aside from denomination is a '3'. Go figure! Edit: Looks like yours is 1974 actually. At least that is the one I found on that one site with the auctions - under search terms 'japan 50 yen'

Yes, I just started going through nickels and for the most part those types of results have been for me as well. The first few boxes I had Buffalos as well, but the silver have been 1-2 (one time 4) per box or $100 since sometimes I just get $20 or so. I have started halves as well and with 2 boxes of those a Franklin and 40% in one and a standing liberty and 40% in the other plus a 2008 clad proof. Not much but something to keep me going. Kind of reminds me of a rub off lottery ticket when I find one!

Searched my 14th box, found two 1952S that I had needed and found one in the previous box Also found a 1945P silver and a strange ocean in view nickel, maybe an error? I don't know but I might post it sometime.
