My first Liberty head V nickel (12 boxes).

And another buffalo (same box!). It's a D and I think it's a 1929.

And oddly, no silver War Nickels.

Just finished a nickel box. It was satisfying because it had a 1945-S hole filler! Also, another 2004-P doubled die and a 2001-P ~150 degree rotated die error.

captainfwiffo, your rotated 2001 is listed as an R-6 and has an estimated population of 13-30 pieces, nice find! I've checked 20,000 nickels and haven't found one of those yet.

It's my second (both 2001-P, both clockwise, the first at about 105 degrees, this one close to 150), so I may be in the original area where they were distributed. I have a dedicated thread about them. but I haven't been able to find much information on value because there seems to be a pretty small number of rotated die collectors.

I usually only post every thousand rolls, and I'm at 22,400 right now. So, 600 more to go before I list an actual update. But this had to be shared! I know a few of you that are nickel roll hunting have found these in this condition, but the two I had found up to this one looked nothing like this:

Pretty close to Uncirculated! And, the same box also included TWO 1939-D's. Somebody dumped some good stuff!

I read somewhere that there was so much media hype surrounding the scarcity of this issue back in 1950 that it is estimated that there are more MS specimens of this than there are circulated ones. I'm curious who would spend them now, though. Unless little kids looking for ice cream money found rolls in Daddy's drawer!

Could be ! Thats why so many high grades in circulation !
People probably bought them in rolls and hoard it then with the time people who didnt know about coins spend them in rolls or cashed it or deposited the full rolls , so the coins spread out all over ! Makes perfect sense to me !

Just in from my job... found TWO War Nickels at my work, a '44-P and '45-P. One was in my register, and the other was in the gas station register. A total of roughly 3 rolls between the two, which is pretty darn good by my standards.

Also, on the topic of the '50-D's, the one that I found a month or two back was very well circulated. It looked like it had been used for about 10-20 years before somebody dropped it into a change jar to be taken to the bank.
