I don't get it. So many of you guys have no trouble finding the "rare five", which my son and I have a lot of trouble getting, but you do have trouble finding coins like the 1942D, 1951S, 1953S, or 1955P, which my son and I find easily.

Haha, I'm also missing the 55 p.

Here's what I am still missing (with mintage figures):
1950 d (2.6 million)
1939 d (3.5 million)
1938 d (5.4 million)
1955 (8.3 million)
1953 s (19.2 million)
1942 p (57.9 million) silver

good grab! also, I like how you say your, "set is complete except for the 1943 D, the 1945 D, and the 1950 D" so...not complete at all then... ;-)
My set is also complete, except for the 39D and 50D.

the rule at that shop when they buy a Jefferson nickel set is "pop the silver and the 50 D and the proofs and take the rest to the bank."

Out of curiosity, when you guys find the '50 in your hunts, what condition is it in? I have found three in total, and all of them were G-VG at best and 90% black on the surface of the coin. Have I just hit some bad luck, or is this typical?

Box #31 down! Good results!
silver 1-1945-P That's 31/28, 28 silver
no buffs
no V's

PROOFS Galore! 3 PROOFS
1975-S
1979-S
1982-S

Must have been part of a collection! This is a huge one for me because in 31 boxes I have found 4 proofs, with 3 of them being tonight! Also, they are VERY nice proofs, only one is really impaired at all.

Good Luck Hunting to All

By the way, I found a 42-D CuNi as well! Sorry Ricardo you'll find one soon enough.

Box 15: a record high # of pre 1960, 40. But they didn't fill any holes. Did get a 1920 buffalo but the mintmark area is too worn down to tell if it had one. Two 1942-D's. One 2009P. Nothing more noteworthy. Box 5 with no silver.

box for the week is completed
happy with it.
1936 XF Buffalo (replaced the fine example in the dansco)
3 1939 P
21 40's coins
23 50's coins
no hole fillers but I did get a 1951 which was a harder date for me to get.
all in all, a lot of pre 59's, a lot more then usual. Clear brinks rolls for anyone who cares
til next time
