So I kinda new to the nickle searching community, started collecting about a month ago after having a hard time finding penny rolls that wernt all new. I intended to keep all my nickles do to the liklyhood that the compisition will so be changing. So far I have been doing great in my finding, Tons of prior 60, avg of 1 war nickle to every dollars and so far found 2 Buffalo's. The proublem I am running into is that I have little over $400 in nickles which is tieing up my searching funds. Should I cash in the nickles, or keep and wait till my funds build back up. Plus are there things to search for other then Early dates, war nickles, and buffalo's? I would greatly apreaciate the help.

 to the Nickelsearchers! First off, dont save every pre 60 less they are nice. and yes its prolly a good idea to cash your searched nickels in. I doubt the composition will be changing anytime soon and even so we can pull nickel nickels by the millions if they do. oh and how many War Nickels are you finding per how much? |

Agree with rachums. If you save all your nickels, they are going to accumulate real fast. If they change the composition of nickels today, it will still be easy to go out and get thousands at face value by tomorrow. There are millions out there and they will not disappear in a day. As far as what to look for, I keep 1959 and earlier. I also keep 2009 nickels. I also look for upgrades for my album because I am putting together a whole set from circulation. Also keep proofs. I'm not good at looking for errors, but some people find various errors. Lastly, I keep all foreign coins. Just keep whatever you feel like keeping, if you change your mind later, you can always cash them in.

Yea might as well cash them in tommorow when I got to cash in my pennies, LOL they are going to hate me I got 3 almost full 5 gallon buckets of pennies and nickles (all zinc I hoard the copper)

Box 31 consisted of 48 NF string & sons and 2 CWRs. 2009-D (X2) from the CWRs - my 1st and 2nd ones. From the other rolls: 1943P (sil), 1944P (sil), 1945P (sil), and a 1929 buffalo. Two of the silvers were in the same roll! Only the second time I've found 3 silvers in one box (the other time was box 1). Also had a 41-S and 53-S (X2). Awesome box.

My last box had a 1959 proof and my fourth 1939d. 11,000 rolls and still no 1950d...

Did a box today. 99% were 2011 Ps. Did pull a 51 out of it, but thats it.

I've gotten about 28 boxes of white & blue S&S. I guess good is relative, but I think these are average compared to what everyone else is finding.

I just got around to sorting a box that I purchased back in March. I ended up with 3 War Nickels, a 2009 D, and about 15 of the 1939-1959 nickels with mintages of less than 100 million. No major keys though. |

Just got skunked on 2 boxes of dimes, so I just went out and got a box of nickels because they never let me down :)

Yes nickels are the last hope! Dimes quarters halves and pennies all picked through for silver copper or wheat. Nickels have many to find yet!

Now my bank hates me lol, cashed in 673.28 in nickles and pennies at there coin counter. They had to change out the bags 5 times, every time she came over she gave the the most evil stare. To top it off I had 3 people waiting behind me ( I did feel bad for the kids who were waiting but I just wanted to finish).

yuengling101: To avoid that I never let my coins pile up. I've never had them change the bag more than once. I dump once a week and it is never a problem. they change out the bag once and it's done. they said they change it out several times a day anyways. I usually mix up my searches so I never dump too much of one denomination. for instance in a week I will do 2 boxes of dimes, a box of nickels, and a box of cents. or I will do 2 boxes of nickels and 2 of dimes, etc. I could imagine how it would be annoying if I dumped 15 boxes of nickels or something like that. I can guarantee they'd rather have you come often and dump a little rather than come seldom with a ton of coins. that's just my experience though.
