I am hooked! I started my quest for a set from circulation and did surprisingly well after 4 boxes. I found s dates:

40,41,43,48,49,51,52,53,54 as well as the 50p to boot!

As well as many others. I am off to a good start. You definitely inspired me!

Good luck with your 50d to complete the set!

Yeah I miss CND reports. I guess he has to work a lot.
I have been busy getting my set of Jeffersons together of the best I can find of those I have on hand.
My recent acquisitions are my second double eye 1943 P and a 1939 and 1945 P Double Monticello. 1954 S over D and 1955 D over S. Also have found a 1990 D no FS initials and a Large S 1941 S.

I still need these to consider having what I feel is my complete set.
1938 1940 1941 1942 Ty 1 and 2 1950 and 1951 proofs and perhaps a 1955 Triple Die Proof. ( as long as they aren't ugly I'll settle for any grade PF 60 or better )

1942 D over Horizontal D
1946 D over inverted D
1949 D over S

Hope that the forum doesn't get mad I mentioned trade in here, but I don't want to duplicate my post.

It seems someone dumped their Pre-1959 hoard (complete with one silver nickel) at the local bank. A "rare" find was a nice XF-AU 1939. I'm going tomorrow to get 2 more boxes.

I absolutely admire your ambition, coppernickeldaddy. This is a fantastic goal to make, and I look forward to seeing your results in however many months from now it will take you.

XavierOfGreen sez ... "you actually can find those in rolls"
That is probably true but only if I do the roll search thing (again) and I just can't do it as I don't have the time.
I have my captured nickels that I have saved to go through yet.
I did just nab a double monticello 1939 tonight though in fine condition.
I would like to find the one with the hockey stick die break on the pony tail. I think that is a 1946 S. Anyone know for sure?

Sorry I haven't added too much here lately; I've been concentrating a lot the past couple of weeks on cents and half dollars (with GREAT results, especially regarding the cents!) but I have four updates to post; should get around to that in the next few days.

NO 50-D YET!

Well, here I am, "next few days" HA! I have been sidetracked by other shiny things (cents and halves) and have had a fantastic August searching through bank rolls of those (a 1999 Wide AM, close to 300 silver halves, etc.) but through the month I did do a few nickels. I have four updates, and tomorrow will get a box of 50 rolls to complete a fifth update. Here goes (and by the way, STILL no 50D)
