Glad to see an update CND. Wondered if you got locked in a bank vault accidently there for awhile. Recently I picked up a 1939 double reverse ( Double Monticello ) and a nice 1954 S over D and a better 1955 D over S variety 1 Still hunting 1938 1939 1940 1941 1942 Ty 1 and 2 1950 and 1951 proofs ( as long as they aren't ugly I'll settle for any grade PF 60 or better ) Also looking now for these yet in attractive condition. 1941 S lg S mintmark JUST GOT ONE IN XF!1942 D over Horizontal D 1946 D over inverted D 1946 S with hockey stick shaped die crack gouge or crack on pony tail. ( I think this is a DDR too.) 1949 D over S 1990 D no designers initials ..... JUST GOT ONE!

Hi Wheezy!
I'd LOVE to find the 90d no initials!
I'll check my 41s 's to see if I have the large S. I don't think that I do as I would have remembered it (you can always tell the date of a pre-silver nickel S mint from the mintmark size)
I'll be on the lookout.

Hi CND, Ahhh yes, that is a very good observation as all the S mm would be small 38 to 41 with that one exception. I know by experience, I can bet that you can almost identify the date on the obverse by looking at the reverse of the nicks by now. I used to win a beer at the bar on a wager a long time ago now and then. That skill comes from roll searching and especially the Jefferson's. I saw your Half Dollar and Nickel in your gallery. I laughed as they were a nice matching pair of seldom seen AG coins. I think whomever had them before you must have finally wore a hole in his pocket and never parted with a dime. Must have been carried around everyday by the same person. I was gonna comment on it but passed. Good luck on your searching!

What bank are you getting all these coins from?

I live in Central KY, and I just go to random banks in the area to get all of the rolls (cents, nickels, halves) that I need. Most banks won't hassle you, but a lot of smaller banks do require you to have an account with them.
BTW, I have an update to the survey coming on here tomorrow or Tuesday!

Why I love the local Wachovia: This is the bank my job deals with and the nickel rolls are always full of interesting things. It's the same branch I found the 14-D, 1907, 1983-S, and a few silver nickels from. This box I bought today was awesome! Highlights include: 1927 1935 1938 (first I've ever seen in person, and thought it was a '58) 1941-S (4) 1942-CN (2) 1943-P (2) 1952-S (2) 1954-S And the shocking part of all! 20 1953-S nickels. And these were not customer-wrapped.

More fun from the same bank, but the Winter Park branch.
Today's highlights:
1912 1943-P

I think that I am going to buy a box of nickels to go through. How long does it typically take for your bank to get you a box?

Many banks will already have boxes in the vault. Maybe not at the branch you go to but the main branch or branch that does all the ordering should. Just try to go at a slow time and not when the bank has 5+ customers in line. The teller will be alot more accomendating that way.
