My guess is that coins in great condition after 60-70 years spent a lot of time out of circulation.

Possibly was from a collection. I will hit up the same back where I picked up the boxes from. Maybe I can find me another just like it.

Yes, tucked away in a nickel jar/can or something. I suppose that most nice coins found while hunting led protected lives or came from abandoned coin collections. I'm just happy to be the lucky recipient of a few beauties over the years.

Getting through a box now...hopefully I'll have a few honorable mentions to share. Back to the group...

Did my first box in some time yesterday and today. Two War Nickels, a 49S, a 52D and three 2009's, two from Denver. (First '09 D's I've found in about two years.) A couple of 60's in better than average shape.

The 42S and the 49S were in the same roll.

I also saw about 6 or 7 70 S's, but they were all well worn and I didn't keep any.

Hi Bucky - yeah, I've not seen 2009s or 2009Ds in a few boxes. Seems to be feast or famine and most found are pretty circulated.

BBF90 - nice wartime finds in just $50.

$40 MWRs yielded 1, 2009P (only my second), and 4 pre-1950s, no wars. I picked up another $100 in nickels today and will search them when I have time. Cheers all!

Although not a CRH find, I did score an 1976S impaired proof in my change yesterday. My first impaired proof nickel!

I went to one of the banks that I get nickels at today to make a loan payment. The teller who usually gets me boxes said she had a $72 nickel dump that some guy's wife brought in from his pocket change that he's collected over the years. She brought in pennies also, but I just got the nickels.
