You may have gotten lucky young man. On pg 400 of the 2016 Red Book it talks about small fractional gold coins and tokens, said some were reissued in 1883 with predated coins. It just may be a real gold coin, maybe up to 85% pure.  Have to research that, know there's some here that'll know! Keep my fingers crossed! Edited by Crazyb0

What's the size of it? I'm just curious, as I don't know anything about California fractional gold except that there are fakes. And yes, I found that out after I bought one  The fake I have is really tiny. Mine looked totally different than this, though, FYI. Edited by bd251

REV. 2pairs of barriers in each branch, repunched date. 5 is low NOte: 822a same dies, off-metal strike in what appears to be somewhat impure copper. Rarity 8

Your coin is a BG822 or also known as Lee22a, Very little gold are in these types of coins, usually 10k or less and often times much less.
822a is a trial pieces made with copper as stated in the book.
