I think I may have a 1969-S WRPM-005 Jefferson nickel RPM. However I am having trouble with determining if WRPM-005 is the correct one or not. I may be seeing things but it appears that my coin has many of the die markers associated with the various RPM's, however I don't think my coin has the Die dent above "LIBERTY" that identifies WRPM-005. Also I think these RPM's are of Proof coins, but I have trouble in identifying a well circulated Proof coin from a Business strike coin. What do you guys think?

This is not a circulated proof, it is a normal business strike (which SF did through the 70's for various coins, usually cents).

Business strike and Die Deterioration Doubling. Die flow lines on the obverse field point to a late die state. Most of the text isn't zoomed in enough, but I also see Die Deterioration Doubling between the 9 and the rim in the date.

Notice how the "doubling" and the die flow lines correlate exactly in direction toward the rim.

Ok, so it would be safe to say, that any time a coin shows die flow lines it is certainly a late die stage on a business strike coin? what is the Orange Peel affect that circulated Proofs sometimes show?

Shoot, I must have resized at the wrong time.

I'm no expert but, I'd say it's a safe bet. However, being LDS or VLDS does not exclude a coin from have a repunched mintmark. Proof dies have a specific low number of coins they strike before being replaced (can't remember the number) in order to maintain the best results. I don't think a proof will show die flow lines, at least not like this.

I can't answer the orange peel question.

@Spruett Around 3k on a proof? At least, I believe that's the number for modern proof coins, since that was the PCGS guestimate for the CAM cents we were hunting down.

@Idacostya I'd need a reference image. The only orange peel I've seen is on circulation strike cents, and I think they were copper plated zinc cents with plating issues.

I have read somewhere about an orange peel look referencing a particular strike and I cant remember or find where. Although I would suspect you are correct about the orange peel look being on business strikes coins. Is that similar to Die flow lines? I need a darn visual display right in front of me at all times.
