The Persian "5", shaped like an upside-down-heart, gives this one away as being Iranian; the lack of the usual symbols of Monarchy (the crown, or the lion-and-sun badge) mean it must be Islamic Republic. In this case, it's a 2 rials dated 1358 Solar Islamicc era (= 1979 AD).

I suppose the Islamic year is behind for 21 years from the year we are using. Without your missionary help, I would have set this coin aside. Thank you, Sir.
