Hello everyone I have a 1953 wheat that has a bar under Liberty. Not sure what it is. Any thoughts. I did try to mash it with no luck.

My first guess is a die chip, but that's an unusual location.
So my second guess is a strike-through.

My first thought is a die gouge.No point in mashing it,it is not a zincoln.
