Help Identifying An Abbasid Coin - Coin Community Forum

All I am confident of so far is that this coin is a dirham from the Abbasid caliphate. Beyond that I have no idea of date/ruler. I gather most of the identifying information on these coins is in the outer inscriptions, which appear to be missing. I don't know if that is due to wear or if clipping was an issue even in the days of the Caliphate. I don't have scales to weigh it but the diameter is about 19mm. Report this Post to the Staff

Kushanshah Pillar of the Community United States 1554 Posts	Posted 10/12/2022 05:49 am Not 'Abbasid but Ghaznavid, Mas'ud I, 1030-1042, AR dirham, also citing the 'Abbasid caliph al-Qa'im, mint (if any) and date illegible, Album 1621. The tight margins are typical, unfortunately. The first image is the reverse. The emir is named in the last two lines: Nasir Din Allah / Mas'ud.
