Any ideas? Also, is the "S" an RPM? In the area of the date/MM it has heavy die-polishing lines. Report this Post to the Staff

Spence Moderator United States 34464 Posts	Posted 11/05/2022 05:52 am @step, rather than being a RPM, that mintmark looks to me like DDD. The steel planchets were extra tough on the dies. (Not a re-processed and that is a good thing, 2X2 may protect the surfaces better) So I would probably keep them in a 2X2 to protect them. But the die is showing extreme die wear. This happened a lot that year because of the steel planchets and the steel dies. (Die wear is always in the direction of the closest rims) So it is not a variety coin. Report this Post to the Staff
