I have heard of "BIE" errors but I thought they mainly occurred in the 1970s or earlier. Does anyone have any information or takes on this one?

Pics make it look like it could have been a die chip and while in circulation the penny also took a hit in that area as well.

Looks like a BIE which is a die chip. BIE's on newer coins are more scarce but adds little if any premium.

Not an error, a BIE is a die chip and can occur on any year Lincoln.

Greetings all, I`m sorry I haven't engaged until now but work has been a big distraction to my coin hobby. I love researching errors and will take a stab at this one. this is defiantly a "BIE" error and I would classify this example LDB3-1995-004 3F+ given the height the chip extending above the devices(reference: cuds-on-coins.com ).
Hope this helps and I may be correct! I am dying to share many wonderful examples to the forum and will set up pics and have some questions about my findings on some recent examples. I am confident that with the obvious knowledge I have been seeing in response to inquires here my questions will be answered and greatly appreciated. Wonderful find JungleDuck and happy hunting to all !
