I read that "L" in "Liberty" on rim of the 1944 " no mint mark" Lincoln Wheat penny, may have value. Is this true? If so, is the one I show the photo of, one of those? I see these, or similar ones on ebay, have sold anywhere from $3 to $300 or more....and I do not see any differentiating features which would set them apart from each other. I am so new to this...so I'm confused...thanks in advance!

Why would it be? It could be a die fill with grease, or a case of extreme die wear/die chipping. These are die/striking events. On the 'I' it looks like coin contact (damage) on that device. These are common events.

to the CCF ebay has a lot of (priceless) coins. The only problem is they are worthless. Stick around here to find out what's worth a premium or just worthless.

This is common on these. If you can get $3 for this, the more power to to you .

Ok - appreciate the replies, and I absolutely believe everyone's input. That being said...and, perhaps someone can shed light on this...when I look on "sold" items for this exact same coin on ebay (they are listed as "1944 Lincoln Wheat penny no mint mark. One Cent Rim Error "L" In Liberty")...many have sold in price ranges anywhere from $5 to $2000, and they look exactly like my coin....so...I'm missing something. I realize condition matters...but outside of that, I am eager to learn how to differentiate. Any input is appreciated.

Coins sold for those prices could be a result of shill bidding or completely clueless bidders. As stated, the " L on rim" is completely normal for coins of this era.

The images really aren't clear enough for me to see anything of value on this coin.

Thanks everyone! I have a lot to learn...and have appreciated everyone's input and how active this forum is. I willl be back with future questions, I am sure. Both my husband and myself have coins we have collected or have been given to us though our Dad's.

again to the CCF As stated above ebay or utube or 99% of the other sites are not a place to learn about what is rare or not. This site is one of the few that will tell you like it is. With just the responses that you have gotten, there is over a century of experience. Stick around, this is a good place to learn about what is posable and what isn't.

If I can get even a dollar for every 40's wheat cents I have, I be ready to retire 20 years ago. Its terrible the disinformation we have around us these days with false intention.
