Slider23 Pillar of the Community United States 4473 Posts	Posted 05/10/2023 3:26 pm How do you know the 1875 is a P mint? It is much more likely that the example is a 1875 S. The reverse is a type 1. The obverse is questionable about being a possible type 2. If the obverse is a type 2, the example is a counterfeit. Note the the fingers holding the branch appear to have four nubs/fingers on the hand. The type 2 obverse was not used until 1876. Report this Post to the Staff

That means nothing really, besides the fact that it proves authenticity (technically a type 2 1875 can exist, no one has just found one yet). Under LED and magnification there is nothing to indicate anything relating to an 'S' or 'CC' mint mark. In the pic on the reverse you can see the remnants of the 'D' and 'O' of dollar. There is nothing there to indicate a mm, as the mm should be over the 'D' in Dollar. Report this Post to the Staff
