Bought a 1938 D/D Lincoln FS-501, PGCS MS66RB POP 4/0 off ebay last week.

It has hallmarks of a DDO-001 on Variety Vista (VV), except for minor differences, like the VV DDO-001 is not the D/D FS-501.

Appreciate your opinons on the following,

1. Is this a DDO?
2. Is it a VV DDO-001 or another variant?
3. Are all 1938 D/D FS-501s DDOs?
4. If not, does a minor DDO impact the value of this coin?

Image Key
Showing minor doubling in 38, OD, and B, and die breaks over VDB and in forehead.

Beautiful coin Congrats!
Ddo-001 is class IV doubling of the eye. Die cracks at VDB and the forehead are very common and if used as .markers , must match exactly.
You are correct, all 1938's are DDO's. There is master die doubling of the 8 in the date which adds no premium as it's basically considered part of the design for that year.

Stoneman is correct on all accounts as usual. I will add that you can look at the position of the mint mark between the DDO-001 and RPM-001 and see that it is quite different between the two of them. Thus they can not be the same die. But I still remember when I first saw that doubling on the 8 in the date on this year, and yes, thought I had something new.

Yes, the DDO is from a master die doubling as stated - very minor though. but your RPM is very remarkable. (nice images too)

Is there a resource that breaks down master hub, master die, and working hub doubling for denominations, years, mints? Variety Vista doesn't seem to mention that at all. I have found information in many Wexler listings, but there should really be a top-level resource to read. Otherwise you're forever picking out doubling on coins, only to realize it's a big meh. I've had that experience with hub doubling on nickels, and now on Kennedy halves as well.
