Just sharing this 1938 Jefferson nickel. I found it in a bag of foreign coins that I forgot about. Nothing special about it, other than being old. Errers and Varietys.

Lovely, EV. You know me, I'm a Jefferson nickel lover. I love old, worn Jeffersons.

I like it, a crusty example of the first year of issue.
Take a look at my other hobby ... http://www.jk-dk.art

If I made it to 88 I could only hope to look that good!
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Back in the early '70's I considered the '38 one of the toughest of the common dates. You'd see about "6" '39's for each '38 but this number just kept increasing as better dates in mostly poor grades slowly disappeared. I always enjoyed putting the '38 in circulation. It's a cool date and the oldest one.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.
