My grandfather got me into collecting coins the best part of 20 years ago now. He gave me some folders in hopes I would clean up the pocket change my parents always leave lying around and the rest is history.
One of the things we did together was assemble a (mostly) complete type set from 1876 for the centennial. This was a super cool project for me as a child to learn about the older types of coins that used to exist including things like the 20 cent piece that I had no idea existed.
However, we didn't have any proper way to store or display it at the time and it wasn't that important so we moved on to other things. I was visiting with him recently and he talked about wanting a good way to display the collection; like a hard plastic case that mint sets come in, but given the extra denominations I do not believe such a thing currently exists.
I would love to do find or create something for him to display this little adventure of ours for christmas this year. If you folks have any idea where I could get something like I describe above, or any other good suggestions for a way we could showcase the coins I would love to hear them.
