... as today $90 in CWR gave up SIX silver dimes: 54 D and 5 x 1964 P. The 64s are gorgeous specimens that seem have found their way into circulation only recently - and they were all in a single roll along with that 54 D.
Excellent!

A brief update since the last one.

10 silver dimes mostly from CWR: 52 P, 63 D, 64 P x 2, 56 P x 2, 63 P, 59 P, 64 D, 46 P plus this one which has apparently been circulating for roughly 42 years! Has even seen life as an ender, unfortunately. Blakesley effect shows nicely.

Nice find, pound_foolish! Just a suggestion: you should wear gloves when handling coins by the surface.

For most, I do. This old clipper is so bunged up I figure a fingerprint or two isn't gonna do much!

Time to resurrect this thread.

Been a pretty dry summer as far as dimes go but that's mostly due to shifting by over to nickels and cents, and limiting my searches to a smaller dollar amount each week.

Last weekend I stopped at a local branch and grabbed $20 in MWR dimes just to poke around and get back into them after a drought for all of July. In those 4 rolls were a 1980 S proof in reasonably good shape and a 57 P dime.so I went back yesterday and collected another 10 MWR from the same teller, hoping the streak would continue. One of those MWR had TWO silver dimes and the remaining 9 rolls gave up another.

Here are those 4 silvers - 53 P, 57 P, 59 P and 64 P. I'll go back during the week to clean out the rest of the MWR from that teller as I suspect there's a small silver dump in them.

While searching through rejects in a Coinstar's tray, I found my first Mercury dime in circulation in over a decade, a 1929!

I found something unusual tonight: a silver proof Roosevelt dime. This 1998-S is only the second silver proof dime I've found in over 750 boxes of dimes.

I'm happy to have found it, but it's a shame someone broke up a silver proof set for face value.
