Sap Moderator Australia 16883 Posts	Posted 03/23/2010 02:25 am #1: Turkey 20 para, dated 1327 Year 5, translating to 1913. #2: Iraq 10 fils 1931. #3: Saudi Arabia 1 ghirsh, dated AH 1356 (= 1937 AD) #4: Hejaz and Nejd 1 ghirsh, AH 1344 (= 1925-26). Hejaz & Nejd changed it's name to Saudi Arabia in 1932. This date is not listed in my 2006 Krause. It's on Numismaster under "Saudi Arabia / Hejaz & Nejd" as KM# 6. Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis Report this Post to the Staff

Sap Moderator Australia 16883 Posts	Posted 03/23/2010 03:16 am But thai-vic has a point, which I meant to mention but forgot: the reeded edge version of #3 - though it bears the "1356" (1937) date, it was actually struck in the USA in 1947. It's hard to be certain, but I think I can make out the edge reeding in the scan. Under the toughra, where is often is on Turkish coins. I can;t see it completely clearly either, but it looks most like a small O shape - which would be an Arabic 5.
