So -- I've become a little leary of hairlines from rub with using a Dansco 7070 album since I tend to like to see my coins in hand.
I got a lighthouse wooden box with 60 2x2 felt lined compartments. My thought was that it would display a 7070 collection nicely, with some of my slabbed coins going into a corresponding lighthouse slabbed box.
What's the drawback of this? Is there any risk from the blue velvet damaging that lines the 2x2 compartments damaging the coins? I guess there's a chance for dust/hair to get into the box, but it doesn't seem like there would be any friction risk since they will stay in place for the most part...
I have a Lighthouse tray and I use it to display raw coins in 2X2 holders. I use the Eagle brand holders with inert Mylar windows. These fit snugly in the tray spaces and the coins are perfectly safe.
Personally, I would feel more comfortable if the coins were in their own plastic capsules. This may affect how many coins you can store in there (that is, you would not be able to store more than one coin per 2x2 compartment).
