1979 Penny DD? - Coin Community Forum

ikandiggit Pillar of the Community Canada 1166 Posts	Posted 04/10/2011 9:21 pm I really don't know. To me it looks like MD but I've seen them listed as Doubled Dies. I had an old Zoell catalogue that listed some earlier ones as recut or doubled. I'm interested to hear what others say about it. Report this Post to the Staff

west- canuk Valued Member Canada 497 Posts	Posted 04/10/2011 10:59 pm This is hub doubling, Canadian Coin News trends lists them as double date . I have some with the last 3 digits doubled as above, also the last 2. On some examples the leaves have doubling. This date is also known for minor die rotation and obverse doubling on the Queen's face. Report this Post to the Staff

Ejection doubling is usually offset in a single direction and hub doubling, well that is another animal (see the 1974 nickel dollar double yoke, as an extreme example). commoncents13 Valued Member Canada 248 Posts	Posted 04/15/2011 03:26 am I got two questions? for -caster- , -SPP-Ottawa- or others! ---How does DDD ( Die Deterioration Doubling) only affect the date in this case or just certain parts of a coin as I have seen on others and not all parts of the coin? ---And do they carry additional value or not?
