I had a dream that something like this happened, not to you, but to me, I have 13 coins being FEDEXed back from ANACS sometime this week.

I would have made the same move, calling them. Good on ya!

Curious...what kind of condition was the S-VDB in?

Hmm...

I thought the same thing at first. "What is worth more? The 1916-D Heavily Damaged Merc or the VF30 1909-S VDB Cent?" But it doesn't matter. The S-VDB is not mine. I will return it to ANACS because I don't want to screw anyone else because I got screwed. But what if the guy who received my Merc doesn't feel the same way? What happens to me? Very frustrating.

Ok, newest update. I just got off the phone with ANACS. The other package was not delivered yet so the are having FedEx return it to them. They are sending me a call tag for the Penny and will send me my dime as soon as it comes back from FedEx. I should receive it by next week. BTW: They graded my Mercury dime as a Heavily Damaged With VF30 Details.

Whoa, sorry about your ANACS mixup. In my experience an event like this is pretty rare. Certainly, nobody in my local coin club has ever had a similar problem.

I have a 10-coin grading special in process at ANACS myself right now. Hopefully all will go smoothly.

By the way, registered USPS mail is the method recommended by grading services for shipping valuable coins. It is generally recognized at the most secure shipping option, with insurance coverage up to $25000 available.

Thanks Jaobler.

I'm sure your order will be fine. I was actually impressed on how quick they are working to correct the problem.

So the coin is better than it was pictured!

You made a wise choice in sending to ANACS.

Hope you get the coin back soon and ANACS should give you a free grading voucher for their mix up.

I am not good at taking pictures. I'm happy for the grade. I can't wait to get it in my hands though. I knew the were going to put damaged, but they put "Heavily Damaged". I wonder what the value would be. I think a undamaged VF30 goes for about $4,000.

Got the dime back today! The marked it 1916-D Heavily Damaged Solder Residue VF30 Details. It looks really nice in the holder though. & Because of the mix-up, they gave me 5 coupons, each one good to grade one coin for free (5 day service)!
