https://goccf.com/t/107109This coin is pretty much the same condition as yours. Put both the images together and have a good look. Even better If you can try and make the images overlay, I have no idea of how to do this but I have seen it done in this forum.

Is this what you meant trout? I dont think it looks too bad. If it is a fake (which there is plenty of them out there) it is quite a good one.

I got a response the other day, he asked what I wanted to know about the coin. I told him I was trying to figure out a practical value, but already got a good idea from this thread. I also had it checked out by a couple of people who know these coins at the NYINC coin show right here in my town and didn't get any concerns about its authenticity. It resides among my world coin collection with the few other Aussie coins I have. Thanks again folks! =)

Did you end up giving the seller any extra for it?

Your coin is around AU55, it should be able to fetch around $1200 at auction if certified.

I don't think these will ever drop much. As most people cant afford a 1930 penny this is really the key date for penny collectors. I would love to have one like yours.

Hmm...I'm not sure. Just remember a lot of the examples that we tend to see of 1925 Penny's are well worn Fine to Very Fine. In those examples you can't see the height of the coin which is what the speculation seems to be about. Have a look on the few 1925 pictures on their up & coming auction http://www.downies.com/aca/Auction3...gue_052.html as they will allow you to see a better indication of the coin itself. The curveture of the base of the letters seems to be too much, especially on the right hand side of the obverse, because the strike looks weak towards the outer side of the rim (& top side of the letters). Got me stumped.

You can see the consistency in the date numerals across the range of pictures.
