That's hilarious. The joys of paper money. Maybe you could have sold it on ebay as a SPLIT LAMINATED FLAW NOTE...literally. Very funny.

An old trick was to take a $1 and a $20, split both, then glue them back into two $20 with $1 opposite sides. So the answer is yes, it can be done, but no, it's not a printing error.

enworb , I dont know if the $ 1.00 will split , it was only the $ 2.00 that split on me , none of the other valued notes did , easy to try just get a $ 2.00 and laminate it ,leave for a week or so then try ,if it does then that is ok , it only cost $ 2.00 if anything goes wrong , not even the price of an icream .. kel.

Quote: Aussie notes are different sizes, so that wouldn't really work here. "Fortunately!" Many counties make each denomination longer than the next lower one. Stops this problem, and there's not enough room on a bleached note to put the more expensive note's image on. Plus it helps low-vision users, to an extent.

I see the new listing is 60% lower than the original.
The foxing on the reverse would indicate moist conditions at some point.
