Thank you traevin for confirming. My quick look at completed ebay listing shown that the Jonah & Whale Silver 2 NIS Proof has the highest price gain then come your 3 coins set; the 3 coins set w/ 1oz gold has similar price margin but not many actions. Somehow, the 2 coins set I mentioned and the 1 NIS Proof has no price gain what so ever.... I don't know why.

My main reason (from my initial post) was that the other 2 coins from the 3 coins set doesn't have the COTY and from different year (part of the series though). Now I have to rethink, after my little research. I took too long to think and the single coin 2 NIS Proof was sold out again....*sigh*

Regarding the Mongolian design, what traevin pointed out is true, however: The gulo gulo is the first of a series that has new design (first of it kind - raised profile w/ crystal eyes) and that's what caught collector eyes. NOTE: the 2006 designs doesn't have that raised profile so the price may rise because of the hype but would not last. What's the next design?

Traevin,

Thanks for your impressions on the set. From the pictures, the Elijah and Jonah coins did look to be nicer, it was the Sampson coin that pushed me to just the Jonah. Actually the whole series seems to be interesting - long running too.

Nice coins. Thank you for sharing.

$$ wise, the 3 coins set is better than the 2 coins set I've been mentioned though (more silver for the money and variety of designs).

SilentAsian4Hire,

I think your idea of just getting the individual Jonah in the Whale 2NIS coin rather than the set is a good one if you're trying to get the best bang for the buck and the deal with the greatest chance of building on your investment. Because I'm not as big of a fan of the Sampson as I am of the other two, I'm second guessing the buy a little. On the other hand, if I had bought the two separately, I would have paid almost as much as I did by simply buying the set outright, judging by the APMEX prices.

I think you've made a good choice (if you are paying around APMEX price, compare to ebay current listing). They sold out the whale 2 NIS on APMEX now so I'm unsure if I should buy the 3 coins set.... they are good bang for the buck but that's big buck for me at the moment.
Rest in Peace

I see where Jonah is offered at $219, with $200 accepted on ebay. Samson Bin Offered at $110.00.

Out of curiosity, did anyone else ever buy the set? Just noticed that APMEX knocked it up more than $100. Not sure why. Diminishing inventory, maybe? That's one of the great things about buying proofs, they don't typically drop so much, or at all in this example, with PM spot price declines.

I was gonna pick up one but then APMEX hike the price so I am a bit hesitant.... not sure if I should get it or buying silver or paying some CC debt.... lol... (paying the CC debt is the obvious choice but with current silver price, it's VERY tempting).

Oh, yeah. Debt sucks. Always pay it off ASAP. FREE men and women are debt FREE! Note that the words "owe" and "own" look a lot alike. There IS a reason for that!
