 - is there no end to how many lies people will tell to shift stuff on ebay! A better title would be 'only searched 7 times for anything rare, interesting, high quality or attractive - in fact anything but the slugs and the common coins (always shown at end of rolls!) have been removed'

Let's see... The seller says Quote: However coins in each roll are unexamined and then says Quote: Condition of coins vary but most are about good to fine or so unless otherwise mentioned in title of this auction. Since this guy has determined the grade of the coins without examining them, he could make a fortune! I can see it now... Dial a Grade Coin Service. You call him, tell him what your coin is, and he can tell you the grade without seeing it!

I have been seeing these lately with silver modern coins placed in Cent rolls. I cannot believe someone is actually doing the same thing with an ancient Roman Bronze. It just proves that no matter how low someone can go, there is always more room to go even lower. I wonder why ebay is not doing anything to stop this ludicrous behavior.

I can't believe someone actually fell for this and bought it.

The person who won the auction only has 1 feedback. Either a extremely stupid newbie of more likely, shill bidding is involved here.

This is quite possibly a shill bid; however, the seller doesn't even need a shill since he can construct the rolls after seeing the winning bid!

Quote: he can construct the rolls after seeing the winning bid! Very good point--and ebay should simply ban sales of items without pictures. We all know that some bank didn't roll these coins--buyer beware!

So I checked his other auctions and it looks like he really is selling a number of rolls that are a mix of Lincoln cents and roman ae4's. This isn't just a one-shot random one-off item. Holy cow! Either that or they're all just Lincoln pennies and Lincoln is a lot older than I thought...

I wonder if the banks will ever put unsearched rolls on ebay?

Quote:I wonder if the banks will ever put unsearched rolls on ebay? It seems like there should be a law (at least I hope so) against banks selling money at a higher value than its denomination.

I've dealt in coins almost 50 years, and have never seed a Roaming coin (gold piece, Three Cent, seated or Barber dime) mixed in a roll of cents, let alone on the end of the wrapper. If a bunch of such coins appeared, all from one seller, there's NO doubt in my mind how it happened.
