Some people will think it is 16oz. of silver. Others will calculate 90% silver for 14.4oz. but if you account for the 35% War Nickels it is actually only 8.5oz. of silver. HUGE difference.

Whats misleading about it? He tells you exactly what your getting. 3-half dollars,11-Quarters,32-Dimes,55 War Nickels Whats misleading about that?
Total Silver melt value is $243.03 It's a Very good example of how the Buyer needs to educate oneself.

Junk US silver coins are 90% silver, that's what's misleading. War Nickels are not considered Junk U.S. silver.

The seller also buries the 55 War Nickel text at the bottom of the listing.

The seller does picture a War Nickel though, that should let people know it's not all junk silver.

1st, I agree that anyone taken on this has nobody to blame but themselves.

That being said, I expect more from someone claiming to be a "professional numismatist". The seller is very careful to exclude the phrase "90% Silver Coins" and "1 LB of Silver" to cover himself from any claims of misrepresentation. I just feel that when 99% of US Junk Silver coins out there are 90% silver you should be more open about what you are selling. When you look at the final sales of his lots it is clear that most if not all of the buyers are viewing these as all 90% silver and his description does very little to make it clear that they are NOT all 90% Silver.

The seller started the bidding at one cent.A little research and I mean very little research from the buyer would reveal all the information provided by us in this thread. Is the seller suppose to stop the sell when it reaches melt value of the coins he listed? The seller does show a picture of a War Nickel as you say and tells you there are 55 of them. How is that misleading?

I guess I take it for granted that not everybody knows War Nickels are 35% silver and the rest are 90% so I do see the other side of the road.Point well taken

I agree with the OP. This is a sketchy sale & advertisement. What is further amusing and borderline insulting, is the fact he says "Don't fall for the competition's tricks!". No where in the sale does it list 35% at all. Next please.

@BH1964 You're right. Negative and Neutral feedback show unhappy buyers.

Agreed nod2003, that was my point more than anything. It just really bothers me when people intentionally omit information in order to try to make an extra buck. I understand the whole buyer beware thing but isn't this type of thing tha gives many people an excuse not to trust the Coin World?

It did say he offers returns no questions asked, and with ebay protection and you indeed calculate the correct silver content via the 42-45 War Nickels then more power to them....

I am like most, would just prefer not to deal with anyone so snake like they spend countless hours coming up with tricky LEGIT MISLEADING phrasing to deceive and get away with it perhaps....

My question, why would any fool wanting to continue to use ebay to do this knowing they are gonna have BS cases and red tape to deal with? I can speak on this after just waiting a month to get $335 back from crooked seller. He got back to back negatives for same thing, one was from me and we both didn't get items and had to go through ebay to get money back....

And then after all that I MESSED up and sent 10 oz. bar to guy who bought 5, and 5 oz. bar to couple who bought the 10 oz. bar, what a mess, lol....

Crazy enough the buyer being most helpful and friendly is the guy who got the extra 5 oz.. And if he was not HONEST nothing I could do to get that back. the other couple not so friendly they are mad at me, and I have responded in case and even called them on the phone....

She was like well this is just shady an I think you are trying to rob us, and I was like...."Mam, would I now be offering you either a full refund or the correct bar when I get it back, your choice if in fact was a crook?", lol....

Left me neg before I could even attempt to fix. Crooks do not exchange emails or call you on phone. They actually ALL fall off the face of the earth, we all know this, lol....

ebay ruled for them both to send me bars back, then refund, then offer in 2nd chance if they still want to buy, and the nice fellow does, the couple not so much, lol. Oh well, this is just an example of the major pains sellers and ebay can be. And I just made honest mistake and learned to triple check and never try an box up more then one box at a time for a safe guard. If I ever see another ebay case in my ebay, it will be way to soon....

Anyhow off subject a bit sorry, but you never know in case you ever get into similar situations you can know what to expect.....

I did get my $335 back from ebay on that one guy, and he is more or less finished on ebay now....
