The mark on the obverse appears to be a die crack in that pic. Is it raised or incused?

Im pretty sure its a scratch. Maybe you could message the seller and ask. I think $50 is a little too much.

Had a squizz at the pics in the listing and looks like a die crack but the weird marks/letters between the dot and the colon on the bottom of the obverse have me baffled

I'd say part of it is a die crack, as indicated, also the section near the G and down to the rim probably is as well.

From the seller: I'm 99% sure it's a die crack, what the images don't show really well (unless you look carefully and probably due to my photography setup) is that the line continues from inside the G on the left hand side of the kings head band, through the base of the king and then at through to the bottom of the coin. Having had a real close look at the coin just now I really can't see how it could be a scratch as it doesn't look like something has dug into the coin (a scratch) but rather that the metal is very slightly seperated (a crack), I hope that makes sense, if you have any further questions please feel free to ask. I note that I have sold alot of 1924 pennies with die cracks (so it is common for the date, the die cracks normally run for the same length but are normally through the lettering rather than just outside them). Quote: that the metal is very slightly seperated (a crack) This isn't how I would describe a die crack so I'm not sure

I'm actually the one selling the coin on ebay, lol. Please find attached two extra pics which in my opinion show that it is a die crack (or at least I'm 99% sure it is), others thoughts.

dcoin Your photos confirm a die crack IMO. Seeing as it has the nice die crack $50 is a good price. It has a bit of character. Whwn I first started I steered way clear od diecracks and small errors but I actually aim to have something like this in my coins because it makes them more unique.

Hi Guys, OK I'm still new at this but for me at least a gEF maybe more. Now in the original pics my first thought was die crack but for me that is a ridge on the coin where the metal has flowed into the crack in the die. dcoin's new pics say lamination flaw if the metal of the coin itself is separating. What it is not is a scratch, just to irregular to be one. Either way, die crack or lamination flaw, a really nice coin. Now just which ebay auction was it ..... Cheers Pete
