Doing The Right Thing....reputation Is Everything.

Well thats just it fuzzy, dont bit the hand that feeds you, even though the owner prolly would never know about it. The guys had said thank you for coming back in and all I could say was, well your reputation is all you have. Just thought I would share the story, it was really more about getting a decent price on a bit of silver.

Still wondering about going back or not. With the ramp up in prices lately, just not sure about buying more. But even saying that, $6 each is basically spot so the price at this point isn't bad...if it was at $40oz, it would be a great deal.... but since I've been loading up for the last few months at 15 x face or less its hard to pay 24x face right now. Mental block I guess.

Kudos to the OP for doing the right thing. Macmercury is right that very few people seem to have that these days and would have just walked away with the good deal and then bragged to their family and friends.

Classy thing to do, my friend. Same thing happened to me not to long back. Keep in mind silver was in the 26ish range.
Don't know what my guy at the LCS was thinking last night. I handed him 60.00 for some 90% half dollars. I expected 6, but he put some coins in roll, handed it to me, and gave me 4.00 change. I didn't pay any attention to the transaction, because we were just chatting away. I left, and got in my car. I dumped the coins out and there were 11 in the roll. I went inside and returned the 4.00 and 5 half dollars. He thanked me for being honest and tossed me a free 1/2 and said see you next week.

Nice work guys ...like I said earlier you reputation is everything. Walking away from situations like this means you're lying to yourself at the very least. Stick with your good side and don't let greed lead you astray.

Oh and no one has mentioned if I should go back for those few quarters and dimes.

Similar thing happened to me on my first trip to my LCS in February this year. I went with my Brother, who was known in the shop. He was looking at coins and I was just looking at silver. I was buying 1 ASE and 5 other 90% silver coins. Mostly older halves. When I got home to catalog all my purchases, I found that I had 2 ASE's in my bag. The LCS was closed so I went in the next day and talked to the sales person who helped me. I showed her the 2 ASE's and paid for the second one.

I don't know if they would have caught the mistake, but I could not let it go. I always figure that doing the right thing helps me sleep at night. I like to keep a clear conscious.

I was brought up to be honest in my dealings with other people and I suspect that samsnate was raised with the same ideals
I aslo suspect that everyone has had the opportunity to "walk away" knowing that they could get away with something like this.

Also there is the undeniable fact that it makes you feel sooo good when you do the right thing.
