Cool notes .. I am sure they are good additions to your collection.

Fractional notes have been catching my eye lately, maybe we should start a thread for everyone to post their notes.

Here are a couple I picked up two weeks ago

Good idea, GR58, I changed the name of the topic to facilitate everyone posting their fractionals.

The Merideth 10c note has what is possibly the ugliest portrait ever on U.S. currency, however, William Meredith was an extremely intelligent man. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania at the age of 13, and was admitted to the Board by the time he was 18. President Taylor appointed him Secretary of the Treasury in 1849.

Here is my one and only fractional I bought it for a whopping $15... Sorry about the green background that's a ceiling tile I'm doing for Tijuana flats.

A question to all fractional currency collectors out there, I noticed fractionals sell for relatively low prices in high quality condition. Was this because of high print runs?
After viewing all the fractionals everyone has, I'm inspired to get a few myself.

I just joined the forum, and I did so because I was fascinated by the newcomers to fractional. I have been a (lapsed, now) member of the FCCB, the Fractional Currency Collectors board since the 1990's, and I have always found fractional to be the most fascinating of all US currency. I have gathered and sold 3 complete sets of fractional so far... but I am currently working on a group of large size notes. I have a great grey shield. What has always inspired me about fractional is that an avarage person can gather a complete set (of type notes) for a reasonable cost. But behind the notes is an amazing history! For example, the 5c Clark issue has some incredible history from when Spenser Morton Clark put his likeness on the note, instead of "Clark", of the Lewis and Clark expedition... or "Clark", the comptroller of the currency... depending on which story is accurate. To remove Clark from his post as chief clerk of the Currency Bureau, congress pulled out all the stops. In a true teaparty fasion he was accused of running a bordello out of the currency bureau. The name 'treasury woman' was synonymous with Prostitute for years afterward! I keep a Clark note in my wallet, just for that reason. Lee Davis

I like seeing all the different fractional notes and the interesting information.

Seeing Fuzzy's notes, makes me want to get at least one of each denomination.

I did remember to pick up a few more of these this week.

Nothing in higher grades. but like I posted before it would be nice to pick up one of each grade (like Fuzzy).

I also took new picture of the two I did have .. and I think I know where a 15 cent note I can pick up is.

Also I want to thank peteramadeus for opening up his post so we can all share our fractional notes.

Radarcarve ... somehow I missed saying
to the forum. I have a feeling you have a lot
of information on fractional notes. I did enjoy reading
your post .. a couple times.

While I have not tried to purchase these notes in the past, I plan on keeping a eye out for good deals on higher grade notes.

I hope to add a couple pages to one of my currency albums just for them.
