I just love mint state seated material from the civil war era. I would have to say 64 is appropriate for this example, even with the light hairlines. Very attractive coin!

Put me at 63 for the lines. Very difficult to grade the high AU-MS COINS even with good pics. In hand coins always look different.

Proof? Rims kind of look proofish to me and nice frosting, I'll say PR64 - looks like it's close but not quite to cameo, the reverse is only half frosted.

I will go with MS-63. MS-64 is possible but the weakness in the rock and top left of the wreath may hold it back. Great coin!

The MS-60 grade apparently takes the numerous hairlines into account and the reverse strike weakness would not have been seen as a positive attribute. On a re-submit you might squeak out another point, maybe two. Or, you might get an MS details grade with a judgment of cleaning or altered surface. With just a $90 value difference between MS-60 and MS-63 (per the PCGS price guide) I don't think a resubmit would be worthwhile.
Nevertheless, the coin definitely has superior eye appeal for the assigned grade.

I was grading from iPhone screen, but I still think it looks way nicer than a 60 grade, really thought it might be a proof though.

It looks better than a 60, which is a grade rarely used these days.

No excuses for me...I will stay with 64 ...have seen MS66 that didn't look as clear and sharp as that! What that shows me is that grading 20 years ago was stricter than it is now and is very subjective. As they say Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Oh yes I would at least get it re-holdered or use some slab-renew to make it clear again because you have a very nice coin.

You my friend BH1964 are 100% correct in my opinion, I think the grading system needs a little changing, especially for toned coins, I love them but I think they should get an environmental grade if a coin is toned, also should there not be a set magnification for reviewing a coin, for cleaned or not, for anything I think should be max 5%, seems a lot of coins are coing back with details/cleaned grades

I think they missed the mark on this one but if you only picked up an additional 2 pts, its probably not worth it. place it in your collection and enjoy it.

A forum question - How did you change the thread's title after revealing the grade? I've tried that once but it didn't allow me to.

Nice dime!
...and it seems that more than one person is claiming it be theirs in the PCGS Registry;
This cert is currently in a user's Set Registry inventory and is featured in one or more sets, including LDGIII.

HA! I own it! Its in my possession! I am going to see this for myself
**EDIT**
I called PCGS and the coin can only be registered to one set and it is mine, thank goodness!
Now I learned that ALL 1862-P LSD have the designation #4635 and if you see that across multiple sets now I get what you're saying. But if you click that hyperlink in any given set you wind up seeing the actual cert number for that coin.
