55FB? Interesting, and great find!

Here's what one sold for on HA.com, beaned, March of last year.

When I looked at the close-up I said "yep" I'm about 90% sure it's legit.
When I looked at the full coin images I thought XF.
Then I looked at mine (XF-45) and thought if mine is XF yours is definitely AU.
The XF to AU difference in value is LARGE.
Good catch.

I suspect this is one of those coins that get a big kick up in value because of "market grading" vs. "technical grading".
I don't think mine would get an XF-45 without the overdate.

I would never have guessed an FB designation. The horizontals don't look separated to me. Maybe someone can explain.

I'm stumped on FB designation also. It doesn't even look close but no matter...you just found yourself a once in a lifetime coin. Thumbs up to you my friend! . I've been collecting for 45 years and never found anything close to this

NICE find for sure. And for FSB's too. Yes most consider FSB's when they are all shown although with many coins those bands are not separated completely. You got one I need too. I'm trying for a full set of Mercury dimes with all FSB's. Only need 7 more and you got one of them. An example of how many say FSB's is the 45. As long as all are shown, with that one, separation is almost impossible and if you did find one, it would be in the many, many thousands of dollars. I've got 12 completed sets of Mercury dimes but your 42D/41 is better than all of mine. At a coin show yours would probably go for about $3,000.

On the FB thing, part of the problem is the intense glare from my USB microscope, it washes out detail...I didn't even look at that aspect before I sent it off, so I'll be curious to see it when it comes back. So it may look better in person than my pictures are showing (well, actually I can say with 100% certainty that it will...the usb microscope is good for zoom in stuff, but not particularly awesome for making coins look good or showing good detail when zoomed out because of washout).

This is a really nice find and a really nice coin. I knew it was AU when I first saw the pictures, but I think PCGS is being very generous with giving it the FB designation. This doubles the price. Nice.
