a couple things with this coin. I may be way off on this one but to me it appears this coin was whizzed. you also have some strange dark areas above the nose and behind the head. its really close to FB, however, the bottom band is in question for fully split but probably is. one interesting note is all of the doubling going on. the motto, the 9 in the date. many of the letters on the reverse. lets wait for some other experts to weigh on this one. I would like to hear their opinions.

MS64FB. There looks to me like a lot of chatter in the fields and a small mark just below the ear. Great overall eye appeal and strike kicks it up from 63.

Whizzed? Chatter? I know they say ownership adds a point, but are we looking at the same coin?

MS66 I don't think it is quite a FB coin. There are a lot more PCGS pop FB coins in this date than non FB coins, interesting.

there are multiple hairlines on both the obv and rev of this coin. if they are on the holder then your ok otherwise there may have been some tampering with the surfaces. can you remove it from the holder and resend

They're not hairlines, they're die polish, and I am not going to crack out a PCGS coin, especially not this one (this has nothing to do with the assigned grade, btw), just for better pictures.

WestCoin, it has the full bands designation, and is clearly split in-hand. Lighting issues and glare (which I said I need to work on) make it look not quite FB. It certainly isn't hammered, but they are separated. The reason you see more FB in the pop report than non-FB is because it's not really economical to submit a non-FB coin of this date for grading unless it's a 67. It's also a year that generally comes well struck.

I see now you did list it as FB I missed that. I was thinking it looked like a ding right side of the middle bands, and that might have kept it out of FB designation. I do get that it isn't economical to submit a non FB coin in for grading in this date. Just interesting how many people get the FB correct before they submit is what I was pointing out.

Agreed on the die polish, common on this series to show up, the luster is really nice on this coin. Still think it's a MS66 but add FB now doh!

Heck with that much luster and lack of obvious hits a MS67 isn't out of line. But the one tick besides the middle bands issue I see in in the fields in front of Liberty's face, I think that precludes the 67 grade.

That's a small piece of surface debris, not a hit, fwiw.

I thought MS64, but questioned the scratches. Looks like I was low and they had no concerns.
