To think I almost put this in the bag for the Coinstar... phew!

EDIT: Since I am new to this error and was just doing a little reading, from my understanding this would probably be classified as an Early Stage Capped Die Strike, correct? And if I am understanding it correctly, not a Brockage as it doesn't appear there is a mirror image anywhere, correct?

I would say this is a late stage capped die strike. The design from the capped die is starting to bleed through the cap.

Yep. Was cool to find, but not something I really collect so figured the proceeds (even minor) can go towards the things that I do. Coins go out so more can come in... Translates to happy wife, happy life for those who are married ;)

Nice find. Checked it out on the bay. I find the starting price interesting, how did you come up with that.

Yeah start at .99 cents, that stimulates bidding.

Is there any chance that this is just a really nice Struck Through Grease? Doesn't look like most Capped Dies I have seen....admittedly I haven't seen many.

Nope. I save them for educational purposes. The paint a thousand words with each image.

You already have the answer ... struck through an obverse capped die.

Nice find ... hopeful it can bring you a few $ on the Bay.

As mentioned correctly several times, definitely a late stage STRUCK THROUGH capped die. Not a capped die and not Struck Through Grease, struck through a die cap (or struck by a capped die, they are one in the same).

Struck through a mid to late stage capped die. On a late stage cap more of the Lincoln design would be showing through. In the case here the last traces of the reverse have disappeared but the obverse design is just faintly showing through.
