I am in at VF-20. While the picture is not 100% clear, I think I see enough of separation on the vertical lines on the obverse to call it VF. I am not certain it was cleaned, the picture is not quite clear enough for that.

Nice 3CN!

PS The rim ding does not bother me.

Just squeeks in at VF20 could easily be called a F15 by others. The 3CN is often weakly struck up.

Can you see the vertical lines clearly on the III on the reverse? That will help get you to VF.

The pictures don't show it, but I can see most of the vertical lines on it!

Nice coin. The rim ding would likely warrant a details grade. I think it may barely make VF, though you shouldn't pay VF money for this one considering the issue(s) mentioned. Keep posting on this forum, and you will get years of education in just a few months!

Might be VF, but the rim ding kills the coin and it's not market acceptable. It's a very common coin so it would be easy to fine one of similar or higher grade and problem free.

Although the rim ding is a little distracting and reduces the value I still think that this is a good coin for a young numismatist to start with.

The 3 Cent nickel is one of my earliest fascinations with US Classic coins!! (And remains so!!)

I think this just might make VF-25 (possibly /Details due tot he rim ding..)
