I don't have an SDB. I have a couple of safes and some hidey holes. More importantly, I own guns and have dogs..

The original question alone makes me pause. But the fact that people are divulging some great tips for potential thieves has me a little bit concerned.

At present I only own one coin for which I have paid over $100. Most of my coins are in albums which I enjoy looking at. I trust the security of a bank but the risk of a home invasion or fire compared to the satisfaction of being able to enjoy my coins at my convenience makes the choice to enjoy my coins at home the best decision to make for me.

The most info anyone can get from a post ona forum is your IP address that says what city you are in and what provider you use.

Unless they hack the upstreams user database they don't have squat.

So I'll help all of the hackers out.

I live in Milwaukee WI zip code 53213 and own a Glock 22 .40, a Taurus Judge Public Defender 4510 .410, a S & W 649 .357 Magnum, a Mossberg 12 Gauge, a S & W M22S 22LR, and a Savage 22LR.

Please call first or you may be rudely surprised.

Don't most burglaries occur when you're not home?

Out here in California, home invasion robberies are becoming more common.
As the economy takes a nosedive, most burglers are getting desperate.
One just happened near me.
But yes, the majority as of now happen when the crooks learn your pattern.

I was thinking of a box at the bank but I have 2 big safes at home and a alarm system.

One safe in bolted to the ground and its about 190LB 4in all a round with 3x3in pins. and the small safe is inside the big one. My friends think am nuts.

If you want to try to walk away with the safe good luck LOL

You can have 30 dogs and 50 arms but it doesn't help when someone who knows you is the thieve. For example you find out some stuff is missing and then you realize that your son is a drug addict.

When I complete a collection, it goes into my SDB, which is at a credit union, not a bank.

I don't own a dog, but I do have an excellent alarm system. And an effective firearm. And an ax handle behind my bedroom door.

But more importantly than my coins I also keep, on a rotating basis, a USB drive (thumb drive, flash drive, whatever) in that SDB. It contains all of my intellectual property that I'd hate to recreate from scratch (novels, documents, photos, etc.) which would be totally lost if the house burnt down or (even worse) scattered across the countryside by a tornado.

Smart, smart, smart!

Backups are important. Offsite backups, even more so.
