Thanks for all the responses. Just to update, I accepted a best offer of $120. Great ROI!

Considering the coin counting machine damage on the obverse, $120 is an excellent price to get for it. Congrats!

thanks for the update with final selling price - that helps us better estimate values in future queries.

i just saw this, and a little over a year ago I found a 1972-D Jefferson nickel and it has an identical Cud on it, like a 100% match front and back. I still have the coin and it is definitely a different coin as it doesn't have the scratch ring around the face...i am really curious about it and would love some thoughts :) (its my first time on this site)

Coinmaster97 if it just another coin from the same die. A Cud is just a broken die on the rim of a coin. This one happens to be pretty large. As to OP great find and awesome sell price.

A new thread on it would be great also. Oh! and by the way

so, if I ever decide to sell it, does anyone think I might be able to fetch a price higher than $120 since mine doesn't have the scratch ring around the face?
and Jay, I think you're right, that's really cool!
