Well they are copper so Benji might have an idea, however that's not legal (as far as I know). On the other hand, that's my brothers birth year?.?

If the person has time and patience to put them in rolls and sell them on e-bay, he/she might double/triple their money - but that's about it. Don't know how a bag would sell - I'd imagine you'd get at least double face though - as long as it can be demonstrated that it is unopened.

There are thousands of sellers claiming something is "unopened" that are lying to buyers. Even though you know that it really is unopened you might want to stay clear of this or word it very clearly.

Hi, I would list them on ebay or sell in rolls on ebay. Peaple like me buy them bu cents for sets or roll sets. I collect bu coin pennys from 1959 thru 2007 rolls. Reason someday I going use them build penny books after I get 88 thru 2007 bu coins aslong with 83 thru 86 denver mints. Most rolls of those pennys cost 2 to 4 bucks each on those bu rolls on ebay. So please dont take them to your bank to get rid of them. Certain rolls like 83 thru 86 rolls cost 15 to 60 dollar each. I not buying 1959 thru 82 cents as of this point since I have bu tolls already. My last roll of pennys I bought I paid 15 for an 1984 bu denver roll. Its hard to say those 1973 bu coin bags could sell around 200 to 300 per bag I have seen. They are gold to collectors like me who collect bu coins. Have fun and please dont dump them at your bank Chevrolet 454ss

cough ...cough ...weight? What does a bag of these suckers weigh? Shipping would negate any profit potential.

Benji - the US Mint and Government prohibits the melting of coins. I think they made a big announcement about it back in January or so. Specially for pennies and nickles as the raw metal is worth more than the coin.

You could use a USPS flat rate box for $8.95 and charge exact shipping or a little more if you wanted. quote: For one low rate, ship as much as can be properly secured in a flat rate envelope or box to any U.S. destination
There is no limit.

Not sure of the exact cost shipping UPS, but shooters all over the country buy (and pay shipping on)bullets for reloading. I've bought 500 or more at a time, and the shipping wasn't outrageous. I'd bet you can still sell them on ebay and make a nice profit.

I am sure that he will not dump them at the bank! I have had long discussion about that! He now understands more of what I have been saying after reading all of your input.
Thank you so very much for all your help. I am really starting to enjoy this site. Still working on photos of items.
It will all come out in the wash soon or later
But, Thank you all very much!

As already noted, try ebay. Also, as already noted the USPostal Flat Rate box is $8.95 for up to 70 pounds. So on ebay let them bid and don't let it go for less than double to triple face value and make sure the buyers pay for postage, insurance. To bad your in Kansas. If you were in Illinois I would say take them all to one of the many coin shows we have here and you could probably make some real money.

quote: That "interim rule" expired April 14th, 2007. Melt away...
The "interim rule" was made official a couple days before it was to expire so it is still illegal to melt one and five cent pieces.
